The wife and I are going to a new church and are exploring some ways to get involved. The people seem really warm, and it turns out I already knew a few members of the congregation. Ahhh... I remember this. Winter reading electric meters.

I had this little cold over the weekend that I thought was on it's way out. Tuesday We had this cold nasty rain that lasted all day. By the time I was done walking all day and teaching all night I was a total mess. With the snow W and TH (picture is of TH) I am only getting worse. My loving wife wolf kill me (which wouldn't take much effort as bad off as I am now) if I missed the little Spooky day part at the hall tomorrow. God, please help me!

So much to tell, so much to tell.

All is well with the family. The love and respect I have for my wife continues to grow as the years have passed (it doesn’t seem like years, but on the other side of the coin it feels like we’ve always been). The kids contiue to grow. Mini me is in school now. I showed C one of my old CHCS school pictures (probably 3rd grade) and he thought it was a picture of himself. Girly girl is now in 5th grade. Did you know that age ten is the new fifteen.

Work… I am truly thankful for my job. Sure, it isn’t mentally challenging. It doesn’t necessarily help me grow as a person. I don’t see myself changing lives, or saving the world through accurately assessing meters. With so many people struggling these days to make ends meet I thank God that I have a Job with a good company that covers the bills.

Music

-Most of the vocal parts are writen.
-keyboard parts are still under construction.

Brandon and I have been driving ourselves nuts trying to put together a record that you… YES YOU! …will love.

Spiritually I have recently had some great opprotunities to serve God in small ways, on temporary projects. I need to find my nitch. I don’t need or really necessarily want something that puts me out in front of people to be looked up to (or what not). I just want to know What God wants me to do. What was I put here for. I want to see fruit. I want to do something in thanks for all He has done for me. I always seem to go back to music as a way to serve, but I think it might be something else or at least something different than what I’ve done in the past. (I pray for clarity and courage.)

When It gets this cold I have a hard time remembering things. I have a nice new hat. It is made of wool and keeps my ears very warm. Stay warm out there.

Hello. It’s been a while yet again. I need to work on this. I have been so buisy with all the other demands of life that I have been neglecting my blog (as well as a lot of friends I need to call and catch up with) I have been getting some work done though ( though not always the work dearest to my heart, more checks on the list none the less) Work is underway on the long awaited (for me at least) new record. Brandon and I have laid down drum (Brandon) and Reference guitar tracks (me) for four songs that I believe are really strong. I have started going back through to lay the keeper tracks for guitar and bass. I have always fancied my (Fender) Telecaster custom (70’s style with hum bucker in neck position) but I broke a string while we were tracking the drums and for convenience sake just grabbed my (Gibson) Les Paul (1979) and as we listened back I fell in love with the extra bite it had so I think I’m going to use it for the dirty stuff. The wife and kids are well.
I have, over the last several years, been pursuing the goal of total star wars knowledge (I know, pretty geeky) during this time I have read, as far as I can figure, 27,000 pages of novel and short story (yes I have read other books as well) I have finally caught up with the release schedule. I actually have a month and a half until something new comes out. At the moment I am reading The Mercury Visions of Louis Daguerre by Dominic Smith, a work of fiction about one of the pioneers of photography. One of the Things I have enjoyed most so far is the description of Daguerre’s perceptions of light. A few more days and I will need something new to occupy my thoughts. If anyone out there has any book recommendations hook me up.
At the moment I am listening to some old school Appleseed cast (way back to the end of the ring wars),and I must say it sounds dang good through the studio monitors I think I am going to work some more on those guitar tracks.

I am still alive and well. Quick post and then I promise I'll give some detail this weekend. First: I have been working like crazy on the house. I'm getting used to this small town life thing. Tonight after work I stopped by the fresh fruits and vegetables market down the block (great locally grown produce at a reasonable price). While I was there someone came over their cute little PA system and sang happy birthday to the cashier (you could tell it was heart felt). After picking up some corn on the kiz-ob I went across the street to the butcher and scored some steaks. I love Uniontown's little Norman Rockwell nooks.

I was bitten by a tick day before yesterday. It was really freaky. I didn’t realize it until I was at home at my computer and happened to look down. There it was in all it’s grossness. First response was quick do a search for how to properly remove it (had correctly heard somewhere that burning them off can cause them to panic and release chemicals into your system, If someone lit me on fire I’d probably release chemicals too). My wife actually did the search for me and found out how to pull it out. After sanitizing the bite I then sat down to find out what kind of diseases I was susceptible to. It turns out it was a male brown dog tick, and that Lime disease has never been found in them but I should watch out (for the next thirty days for the Rocky mountain spotted fever, which doesn’t sound very fun. It’s funny, the internet has taken the place of stores, libraries, and now doctors offices (well not quite but you know what I mean).

This is a picture of the little bugger. We put him in a bag and froze him just in case anything bad does pop up then they can test him.

I really don't want to offend any one but... (lets face it any time you begin a statement/commentary/conversation with these words you have already decided that getting the thing you are about to say off your chest is more important to you the the feelings of the listener/reader/converse) to have a dream catcher in your home is in poor taste (if you are native American I can understand if you try to make the argument that it's ok or somehow meaningful to you heritage, but come on...) if you have one on the mirror of your truck be ashamed. This is a new low. While in the pet isle of Giant Eagle I came across a dream catcher for pets. "A dream catcher for a cat nap" Come on people, just say no. Think about it cats are naturally snooty a dream catcher is so beneath them.

Well’ here I am again. Right now I’m chillin’ to some Sufjan Stevens (Come on feel the Illinois) waiting for the fam to get back from their vacation to "the beach" (they wouldn’t give me the time off work so I was stuck here). Being stuck here with the dog has reinforced my dislike for the animal. Do you know what it feels like to have a really annoying person have the biggest crush in the world on you. You feel bad that you don’t like them back, but the more they push the issue the less you care about hurting their feelings, and the more you just want them to go away. Now imagine you are stuck living with them . Just you... THEM... Them putting their head on your knee... them whining... them staring at you... Them wanting you to rub their stomach... I cant take it any more! Another hour and they should be home and the dog will leave me alone again.
While they were gone I got some serious work done on the house. I also got a good stare on getting some lyrics down on some of the new tunes. I Caught up with a few old friends. ... also had a chance to checked out the new Tom York record "The Eraser" beautiful! Any way...

Here is the new place. Life is good in the land of Uniontown. The women are strong, the men are good-looking, and most of the children I've seen so far are above average. We have been working our butts off on the homestead for the last few months( If you've been wondering why I haven't updated in a while) and have made a good amount of progress. Speaking of progress. Brandon and I are done with the preliminary brainstorming for the new record. Now it's time to finish up lyrics and format. Oh yeah, one of the best things (in my opinion) about the house is that there is this whole second building in the back. Hopefully this weekend I will be gutting the second floor and doing some of the prep work to convert it into a "state of the art" recording studio. As soon as it's done We'll knock out the record, round out the band and start booking some shows. The family is well. I love them so. Work is work, but what can you do. Honestly I am going to keep up on the posts.

For those who have been wondering what happened... Well... It's a long series of short stories. Just to catch you up...

1. The wife and I sold our house and moved in with my parents attic while we hit the auctions.

2. we scored a cool old house in union town at the first auction we went to. (God is good).

3. We are now just waiting for the court to let us close (it should go down by Friday) it's a fixerupper built in 1914.

4. I've run sound for some cool bands down at Boba lately

5. I'm am officially full time at Ohio Edison

6. I did get my wish list bass I had posted earlier on the blog

7. The wife and the girl have both received their first guitars and are doing pretty good so far.

8. I have cool pics of everything I'll try to post soon along with the pics we will hopefully be taking as we hit the new house.

My wife are moving on two phase 2 of our plan to take over the world... I mean... Um, to move up the real estate lader. We put our house on the market about three weaks ago. It sold inFour days. Well, they made there offer, we made our counter offer, they gave it the thumbs up in four days. We should ba closing this Friday. I would have bloged about it earlier but I didn't want to Jinx it. Phase Three goes into full swing when the money hits the bank. First we pay all the student loans, credit cards, and cars off, and there is a missionary organization that we are going to be able to help out a bit, and then we hit the auctions with with some big cash to put down. We have been totlally bless. Blessed beyond anything we deserve. In a couple weaks we will have no debt (with the exception of a new mortgage we will be taking out when we find the right place. We are staying with... My... Parents in the mean time. I can feal some of you gasping. It's ok. My parents are really cool and the to floor of their home is like a whole house in and of itself (we are talking huge) I sure beats finding an imbetween appartment for the month of so in transition.

Got a call from Randy last Friday afternoon to run sound for this guy Zack Down at Boba that night. It was good times. When I hear singer songwriter I usually think Ok... it's probably going to be pretty bad. At best I hope for ok. Every once in a while you run into a pleasant suprise like this guy. Really good stuff. If I can find his web site I'll post a link. I guess he has a couple CD's out, and has been featured in some indi movies. I'll let you know more when I find out more.

Today was miserable... Well for me anyway. It was in the mid 40's and it rained non-stop. Back when I was teaching in a nice warm classroom I wouldn�t have cared. Oh, I might have made myself a little hot chocolate to take the edge off but I would have been fine. Walking all day in that kind ok weather just sucks. Anyway, enough of that. What I really wanted to share was what I saw on my torturous trek. I was in the Kent area today I happened upon a man standing in the rain in the middle of a huge puddle at the end of his drive way, when I say huge I mean this thing was four foot squared, and five inches deep, shoveling water with a snow shovel. Ok, maybe your not impressed. I observed him doing this from about two blocks away. He just kept going and going... If you know anything about water you know that water, following pull of gravity will seek the path of least resistance to it�s lowest possible unobstructed point. The dip at the end of his driveway was the lowest point. You can�t pile the stuff, so long as you are within the pull of gravity. I started feeling worse and worse the closer I got. As I passed by I said to the man � Whooo looks like your fighting a losing battle�, hoping that he might realize that all the effort he was undertaking to �dry his drive� was doing him absolutely no good whatsoever. His reply was �your telling me� and he kept shoveling all the harder. I couldn�t get the guy out of my head. Was he doing some odd kind of exercise... or maybe he was on something that gave him some kind of snow hallucination. Maybe he was a little slow, in which case I would feel terrible for having the other thoughts, maybe he was totally insane. All I know is that as I walked and he faded from my vision he was still shoveling.

Today my friend Scott got married! That�s right he met and fell in love with a lovely young lady named Charity. Wow! Any description I could try to give you of him simply wouldn�t do him justice but I�ll try to give you a kind of over view. Scott is one of the few people from highschool that I kept up with over the years (let�s face it there are few people worth keeping up with, not to say that those we don�t keep up with aren�t worth it. In fact I�ve sometimes wondered if to some of them I might be the one not worth keeping up with. Hhhmmmmm.... Anyway) Scott has always been kind of person who is solid. When I say solid I mean has never emotionally stable, morally stable, financially (though most of us weren�t during college) stable.. The kind of person who if you needed him he was there. He is one of my best friends. We have had a lot of good times over the years. I felt it a tremendous honor when he asked me to be his best man. These pics are from the bachelor party, as well as the big day.

I love it! Real Mexican food, made by real Mexicans! Ok, so I�m making a huge generalization. I�m sure some of the kind employees at Aztecca may be from Puerto Rico, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Argentina... Any way, if you�ve never been to one of those great little restaurants where only half the staff speaks English you�ve gotta give it a shot. There are two that My wonderful wife and I frequent... The only reason I brig it up at all is because this last weekend there was a Mariachi band... well... there were only two of them so I don�t know if you�d really call them a band... Hold on! The White stripes are a two piece. Ok, so they were a band, and a dang good one at that. It was just like being in Mexico (but without the runs).

Shorty and I went on a hike today. Well... I guess it would probably be more accurate to say that I went on a wolk and carried Christian with me. He did walk a pretty good portion of the trail, honestly I am proud of the little guy. We saw waterfalls, cliffs, trees, beer bottles... HE took a good nap when we got home. I watched the first half of Amistad (I bought it at the Record Exchange, I know it is now just called "The Exchange", but it will always be "The Record Exchange" to me, for only a dollar) while he was out.

Shorty continues to grow. Last Sunday the fam piled into the car to meet up with the more extended portions of the fam at the Mecca of children�s fun Chuck E. Cheese�s. Christian, at heart, is a bit of a loner. I swear he was trying th loose me in the sea of humanity that is �The Cheese�s�. I followed him around playing bearer of the tokens, and he�d give me this look, and then just take off. A couple of times he told me bye, and once he suggested I sit back down. Come on, I�m a pretty cool dad. I figured at some point my kids would be embarrassed to be around me. I just didn�t think the stage would begin until they were in their teens. Girly girl turns seven next Saturday. The good-time never end.

Music... I am getting frustrated with the whole band thing. We have not had much luck with drummers. Our first was pulled away by a busy schedule. I interviewed a second, told him the direction we are going and played some of the demos. He was really excited, and even called a couple of times before his debut rehearsal. The time for rehearsal came but he didn�t. He didn�t call, nothing. I tried to call him a couple of time but he didn�t picked up or return the messages I left. So rude. Any way last weekend Brandon came over (he really is genuinely one of the nicest human beings I have ever known, and a dang good drummer) and we hung out and wrote a couple of songs. We did some quick recordings of the ideas. It�s a shame he is going back to school in Wooster. If he was going to be around he would be the perfect new drummer for the band. As it stands we are planning on writing and recording on weekends and put together a record for next summer. I am going to do a mass copyright on some stuff soon. When I send it off I�ll post some demos of me and Brandon�s stuff as well as me, randy, Jason (when he adds his stuff).

The other day shorty and I set out on a quest to find a good pair of boots for in climate weather, rain snow you know, all the great stuff that a meter reader runs into in the great state of Ohio. We tried Dicks, but they just have the caliber of boot I need.
I decided to take shorty to Appalachian Outfitter. Ahhhh.... the memories it brought back. It seems so long ago... hiking, mountain biking, rock climbing, rafting, cooking out... I hadn�t realized how much I missed all that stuff. I miss the comradery... the feeling of freedom... Shorty and I decided to take a peak in the rock gym. We ended up chilling out on a bouldering mat, and watched some folks clime a few routes. I talked to one of guys working there about how much it would cost to get a family membership, you know, get the kids started early. It was all coming back to me... I could almost taste it... Anyway I ended getting a cool new pair of Vasques.
Maybe next summer the kids will be ready for their first big outdoor adventure.

I admit with pride that I am a Star Wars fan. One of my goals is to read all of the Star Wars novels published (Yes I know. Geek! There is some really good stuff out there). But I am not the kind of guy who gets all dressed up and all (not that there is anything wrong with dressing up life a jedi, storm trooper, or whatever else). It just isn�t me... well, not sence I was a kid. I did have a wookie costume, an jedi outfit, and the boba fet underoos. That being said I post these pictures for you enjoyment. Just know that I was at work when this was going on. Yes this is my wife�s doing. I love her.

Life is hard. ...ok strait to the point, easy to understand, something that 99.2% of you good people out there (yes, all three of you) can agree with. Why do some people make it harder on themselves?
I was doing the meter thing yesterday, when I heard this awful sound, not unlike what a Harley would sound like under water. I t turned out to be a girl (early 20's) driving down the road on a flat tire. She pulled over right in front of the house who�s meter I was reading, got out and, in a noticeable flustered way, started stomping down the street. I was right there. I couldn�t help to offer assistance (Don�t think I was helping because she was cute because she wasn�t... Now I feel mean. I hope she doesn�t by some twist of fait read this. I�m sure people think she is attractive, just not me. Any way continuing... I just think people should help each other, plain and simple.)
I asked if I could help her change her tire. She told me she didn�t have a jack, so I offered her the use of my phone to call for assistance. She polite accepted. The part of the conversation that I heard went as follows:

Hey, I just came from his house... (response)

I can�t believe that B&*%# was there I, I, I can�t believe he�d, that A(* H^$%, would call me when she was there... (response)

Well yeah I kicked the s^&^ out of her... (response)

Yeah, Yeah I know but... (response)

Well then He went and cut my tire... (response)

I smashed that mother f@#$$ windows out with my tire jack... (response)

I know, I know... (response)

Not the police we�re all on probation. We�d all go down... (response)

Can you come get me. I only Have one more anger management meeting and then... (response)

Ok, ok. bye.

At this point she handed My phone back, realizing that all the information she had inadvertently shared with me through her conversation made her look like a nut, and started down the street to the gas station.
Life is hard enough. This, well... Well, is a whole lot worse.

This week I spent some time working out of the Hartville Shop. The houses are few and far between out there and darn-it, convenient stores are even fewer and further between. I was pretty parched and when I Spotted a vending machine I immediately, almost reflexively pulled out the wallet. Imagine my surprise and disappointment when I got close enough to read the sign.

My wonderful fam got back into town Sun. night. It's good to have them home safe and sound. They had a good time. I got some serious work done on the house. Everyones happy. Monday we headed down to Canton to celebrate the 4th and lets face it, you can't celebrate independance without blowing some things up. Here are some pics of the fire works the crew went to see.

Where do I start? Well, first ... Um... Well, that means deciding where to start. Ok. I have been playing bachelor sense Saturday. Last Saturday my loving wife and wonderful kids took off for the beach, not to come back until this coming Sunday. It has been strange being here without my family. Given all the things I could have done so far I have chosen to work on the house (and go to see star wars III again).

The pieces are really starting to come together with my new band. More on that later.

The meter reading thing is interesting. Walking around in different neighborhoods right next to different homes I unintentionally have been made to play fly on the wall. Last Friday I was reading on the back of this apartment complex when I picked up on this couple arguing. This woman was tearing this guy apart. She sounded like she was going to kill him when I heard him quietly say something. I couldn�t hear what it was, but after his one sentence (to her monolog) there was silence... Finally broken with the sound of a shattering ceramic object of some sort and a blood curdling �Noooooooo� followed by sobs. I have no idea what drama was unfolding, but my imagination the rest of the day ran wild. The job has also brought me to the conclusion that I am not only not fond of dogs, but actually dislike them very strongly. Meter readers are apparently beneath the mailman on the neighborhood food chain. Later.

Do you remember your first big concert? Come on. Was it something embarassing like New Kids on the Block, Debbie Gibson, Brittany Spears, Back Street Boys etc., or something really cool. Mine was Depeche Mode. I'll always think fondly on it. Friday I took the kids to their first (non-classical) concert. We made the short drive down to the Alive Festival to catch Reliant K ans Switchfoot. My old buddy Thor hooked us up with some free tickets complements of Liberty University. Thanks Thor. The next few pics are here to document their experiance. Enjoy!
